How to Decopatch

Decopatch is easy! Watch our video below to see Siân work on a simple Decopatch project.

You will need:

  • Decopatch Glue
  • A Glue Brush
  • Decopatch Papers
  • The item you want to decorate

The Decopatch Technique

  1. Tear up the paper into patches
  2. Dip the brush in the glue and put a little on your item
  3. Using your sticky brush, pick up a patch of paper and place it onto your item.
  4. Take more glue and smooth the patch out, from the centre to the edges.
  5. Repeat, overlapping the next patch a little.

Things to remember

If you are enjoying a beverage while you are patching, don't put your glue brush in your drink!

The glue takes up to an hour to dry. If you need to place your item on a table while patching, allow one side to dry before turning it over.

While you can use PVA glue, genuine Decopatch glue gives you a better finish, superior moisture resistance and is the ideal consistency.

The glue won't stick too much to plastic sheeting or oilcloth.

If you get the glue on your clothes, wash with warm water before it dries - it's easier to get off while it's wet.

The glue is non-toxic and safe for kids!
