MakeArt ran a surprise pottery painting hen party in the Malthouse at Topsham’s unique Bridge Inn. The afternoon started with a cream tea, and when everyone had had their fill of delicious homemade cakes, the painting could begin. The group of friendly hens selected their pottery items and each relaxed into comfy armchairs with paint and brushes to hand. The colour theme for the paint had been particularly chosen, so everyone used blue, turquoise and purple, which worked very well to make a lovely set of crockery for the bride to be.
It was a very pleasant afternoon, where the hens could relax, chat and re-charge ready for the evening ahead, whilst doing something to mark the special occasion in ceramics! Even those who were a bit nervous at first, soon got stuck into painting and got in touch with their creative side. The resulting collection of items showed everyone’s individual style of expression, including pictures of flowers, stripes, spots, checks and swirls, words and even a baby’s foot print from the youngest hen in attendance! The individual pieces all worked wonderfully as a dinner set for the happy couple, consisting of dinner, salad and side plates, bowls and mugs. Back at the MakeArt studio, it was very exciting unloading the items from the kiln to reveal their glossy colours.
The day was a big success, it was a unique and relaxing location for a hen party.
