On Wednesday 17th October Make Art led a decoupage workshop at the Craft Jam. Fifteen ladies came along to the evening to learn a new craft in a relaxed setting. Jam jars were transformed into colourful tea light holders and pen pots.
A selection of items to decoupage were available to buy as well as different papers, pots of glue and Halloween and Christmas kits. The animals and Christmas decoration shapes were a firm favourite and a large owl was particularly successful.
We discussed how decoupage works on many surfaces such as glass, wood and cardboard and is a good way of up-cycling old items giving them a new lease of life. Everyone enjoyed the social aspect of the evening and the fact a simple technique could be so effective. Decoupage is ideal for Christmas gifts and our selection packs of papers were a popular choice with the participants. All the finished items looked completely unique giving a personal touch for a gift idea. By the end of the workshop everyone had something to take home that they were proud of and were keen to do more decoupage in the future.
